A Gathering of Old Men plot

A racist white farmer is murdered in Louisiana and a black farmer (Gossett) is the prime suspect. The plantation manager (Hunter) fears a lynching and rounds up the farmer's friends to form a front against attackers. Then the sheriff arrives to put him in custody.
