A Dangerous Fortune plot
England around 1850. His father's bankruptcy and subsequent suicide put an end to the carefree childhood of Hugh Pilaster, scion of a wealthy banking family. Maisie, a working-class girl, is also affected by the textile manufacturer's bankruptcy. Despite their completely different social backgrounds, the two fall in love. However, things are not going smoothly in their relationship either.
