3 Américas plot

Spring is coming to an end in Boston, Massachusetts, and 16-year-old América Hart Campos (Kristen Gonzalez) is looking forward to the end of the school year. With summer approaching, América has 2 problems, or so she thinks, she hates school and the alcoholic Joey (Gilberto Arribas), the husband of her aunt Carolina (Gy Mirano). She fills her days with shoplifting, hanging out with her friends and avoiding Joey. But after a while, América, who speaks limited Spanish, is sent to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to live with her grandmother Lucia America, an emigrant with strong anti-American feelings. As the young girl struggles to live with a grandmother she has never known, she befriends neighbor Sergio who is twice her age.
