Windfall plot
The residents of the town of Meredith in New York state were unanimous in favor of wind energy, because what did they really know about it? That changed when an ambitious energy company wanted to install a number of wind turbines in their backyard. Initially some were positive, not least because they hoped to take a few dollars, but in the end the wakeful majority turned vehemently against the plans. Windfall lets the Meredithians - in their still idyllic setting - make their decisions. This includes a trip to the wind farm at full speed on Tug Hill, upstate New York. The local residents are deeply complaining, while the experts do not give a damn about the alleged advantages of the wind turbine industry, which they believe offers a false solution to the energy shortage and the greenhouse problem.
