Where You're Meant to Be plot

Are traditional Scottish folk songs meant to pass on old stories? And why are these stories and still important? These are the key questions Arab Strap singer Aidan Moffat has in mind when he decides to traverse Scotland (including the islands and highlands) in search of the roots of Celtic culture – a journey that yields beautiful shots of the Scottish landscape. Along the way, the outspoken Moffat meets countless eccentrics. The witty singer himself thinks that he should be allowed to adapt or shorten the old folk songs a bit to build a bridge to the present, which inflicts the ire of 79-year-old Sheila Stewart, a folk legend who has spent her entire life rich Scottish song tradition. A tradition that, according to her, you leave unchanged.
