Tsjêbbe Hettinga: Yn Dat Sykjen sûnder Finden plot
The voice of the poet and elocution artist Tsjêbbe Hettinga sounds slow and enchanting among the images of the Frisian landscape. Recurring themes in his oeuvre are: time, transience, melancholy and longing. Nature, especially the sea, is also abundantly present in his often long poems. Since his successful performance at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 1993, he has been a much sought-after poet at foreign festivals. He writes in Frisian and is forced to recite by heart, because he has slowly become almost blind due to an eye disease. Besides writing poems, Hettinga plays the saxophone in a band.
