To Be a Miss plot

The Venezuelan people gained their first experience of democracy with a beauty pageant. In the country under dictatorial rule in the 1950s, it was a novelty for a working-class beauty queen to defeat an elite rival. Beauty pageants have now become big business in the Latin American country. In this film we see coaches, agencies, cosmetic surgeons and even a producer of the coveted crowns. But most of all we see the young women who try to escape their poverty through a beauty pageant.
