The Year of the Ghost plot

When filmmaker Louis Hothothot returns to China in 2022 because his father is seriously ill, he misses his death and funeral due to mandatory quarantine. After the loss, his mother and sister go their separate ways. While his mother moves to the village where her husband is buried, his sister tries to shape her own future in Beijing. Louis himself finds himself torn between his life in Europe and the question of whether he should return to care for his mother.
