The Optimist and the Buddhist plot

After more than a decade of separation, Noam, a conscience-stricken film director, returns to the kibbutz where he grew up to save Zach, his childhood friend who has become a reclusive cripple who refuses rehabilitation. Noam devises a rigorous and grueling workout routine with the goal of getting Zach to walk again—or at least move more easily.
