The Night Visitors plot
Moths. In short and long fragments, looking both inward and outward, through a critical lens that is alternately social and personal, director Michael Gitlin examines these unknown creatures up close. Although he is interested in moths as organisms, with fascinating life histories, astonishing biodiversity, and functional importance as indicators of climate change and habitat degradation, his engagement with them is not primarily entomological. Instead, he looks at moths as aesthetic beings and as bearers of meaning, aiming for a profound encounter with beauty.
