The Last Lions plot
"The Most Powerful Force In Nature Is A Mother's Love"
Fifty years ago there were almost half a million lions in Africa. Today there are only twenty thousand. Unlike elephants, for example, of which there are many more, lions are not protected by international agreements or the government. This is the starting point of a disturbing documentary by Dereck & Beverly Joubert, two award-winning filmmakers from Botswana who have conducted various investigations over the past four years. Pointing to poaching as a primary threat, the Jouberts try to build solid defenses from the lions and other big cats.
