The Hammer plot

Simon de Pury is a familiar face in the art world. The former chairman of Sotheby's has a distinct personality and is known as the 'Mick Jagger of the auctions'. In his documentary, director Simon Wallon follows de Pury's career, takes the audience into the world of the top 1%, and highlights the complex relationship between artists and the business world. We see how de Pury began his impressive career in Basel and how he contributed to setting numerous auction records for artists such as Damien Hirst, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Paul Gauguin.
