The End of the Line plot

"Imagine a world without fish"

Charles Clover, author of the book of the same name and journalist at The Daily Telegraph, is our guide to this first full-length investigative documentary about the catastrophic effects of overfishing. The End of the Line begins with the cod, which exemplifies the fate that awaits many other fish. The huge fishing area off Newfoundland once seemed like an inexhaustible resource, but in 1992 the cod suddenly ran out. Forty thousand furious fishermen lost their jobs. Since then, the entire fish stock has fallen dramatically. If this continues, only algae, plankton, worms and jellyfish will remain in the oceans. In the meantime, the illegal catch continues. The EU, meanwhile, is failing to set global quotas.
