The Case of the Three Sided Dream plot

“The nose knows,” is a winged statement of the flamboyant jazz prodigy Rahsaan Roland Kirk (1935-1977). Rahsaan – the name that came to him in a dream – sometimes played three wind instruments at the same time during long improvisations, including with his nose. Eye drops, administered just after he was born, had made him blind, although he preferred to call himself “a man that doesn't see too well.” He was well cut from the tongue tie; a fellow musician notes that onstage Rahsaan was quite audience-oriented, especially compared to other masters of jazz—a genre of music Rahsaan himself called "black classical music." People from Rahsan's entourage, including colleagues, his widow and his son, tell the life story of this special man. Their stories are interspersed with short animations and archive footage from the Ed Sullivan Show and the Montreux Festival, among others.
