Surya, from Eloquence to Dawn plot

The film Surya is an investigation into the boundary between the personal and the collective, in which oral tradition is central. For this film, Laurent van Lancker traveled by public transport through Europe and Asia. Ten storytellers from different cultures tell a contemporary epic about the life of an imaginary hero (Nemo/Surya). Each narrator uses his own style and native language, prolonging the life of an imaginary hero. The aroma of the different cultures, the taste of the words and the perfume of the journeys takes us from one narrator to another. As in an epic, the film swings between the imaginary and the reality, the inner and the outer world, fiction and documentary.
