Sr plot
The first dictionary of the Egyptian language contains the hieroglyph 'sr', which means 'giraffe'. The oldest ancestor of the longest land animal already walked the Earth about 20 million years ago. In Lea Hartlaub's film the animal is placed in a context of myths, fables, biology and human history. The giraffe is not the main figure, but rather functions as a link between the different fragments. A flood of plot-driven tableaux in thirty locations takes us on a journey through world history; an epic story spanning many millennia and continents, with that one animal as a constant.
