Six Million and One plot
After the death of his Jewish father, who survived the Holocaust in Austria, David Fisher, the filmmaker, was the only one of his siblings to have read his father's memoirs. Joseph Fisher's memoirs were not discovered until after his death. For his film, David visited various locations in Austria and spoke with war veterans in the United States who had liberated his father from the death camps. Joseph Fisher was interned in Gusen and Gunskirchen in Austria after a short time in Auschwitz. His memoirs that he wrote during his captivity were discovered 12 years after his death. When he was allowed to visit the tunnel in Gusen, he took his two brothers and his sister with him.
