"A lie bigger than you can imagine"
At the 2001 World Cross Country Championships in Lahti, Finland, a huge doping scandal broke loose, which led to several disqualifications. Athletes from the host country in particular had made heavy use of illegal, blood-enriching substances. It turned out to be the harbinger of further doping cases at the Winter Olympics a year later in Salt Lake City. When Heroes Lie dissects the history of doping, from the 1970s to the present, through archival footage and conversations with skiers, trainers and experts.
