In Shadow World, Johan Grimonprez exposes the business of the global arms trade - the business that counts its profits in millions of dollars and its losses in human lives… In the aftermath of every war, rumors of bribery, conflicts of interest and unethical profit-seeking resurface. A shadowy world of arms dealers, of corruption, greed, bribes and backrooms. But also from politicians, secret services, military commanders and world leaders whose moral compass has gone completely wrong. Their only objective seems to be to make the war last as long as possible and make money, regardless of the human and moral cost. Using testimonies from investigative journalists, arms dealers, lobbyists, politicians and insiders, Shadow World shows how the international arms trade poses a threat to democracy. Not only in the countries where the weapons are used, but also in the West, where they come from.
