Sergio plot
When a heavy bomb blew up the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad on 19 August 2003, it not only ended the UN mission in Iraq, but also the life of its chief representative Sergio Vieira de Mello (55). Iraq was the last job of the charming conflict mediator, who was known as a cross between James Bond and Bobby Kennedy. The documentary portrays work and private life of the practical idealist and offers insight into how the UN became a target for Muslim extremists. Archive footage, interviews, coarse-grained staged images, moody music and images of Sergio's beloved Atlantic Ocean reconstruct the last hours of his life.
