Première Passion plot
In 1912, American director Sydney Olcott made the very first film about the life of Jesus. It was a revolutionary project. One of the first films shot outside the studio and the only film about Jesus ever to be shot in its original locations. A few years ago, the French director Philippe Baron became fascinated by Olcott's pioneering work and went in search of the origins of the film. His search took him to film archives in New York and to encounters with art historians who told him which classic paintings Olcott drew inspiration from when devising scenes, costumes and sets. Eventually, Baron made the same journey as Olcott and his crew, a journey that would take him across Israel and finally to Jerusalem.
