Persons of Interest plot
"Ashcroft calls them terrorists. They call themselves Americans."
The film tells the story of American immigrants with a Muslim background who, after the events of September 11, 2001, came into contact with intelligence services and the judiciary in a random and often unconstitutional way. Minor irregularities such as an expired visa could lead to long-term detention on vague suspicions of terrorist activity. People were also expelled from the country, causing family ties to be torn apart. The film makers let the victims of this arbitrary judicial process - the persons of interest - have their say in a stark white space. A space that functions within the film as an interrogation room or prison cell, but also as a living room. The interviewees are of different ages (from 4 to 56), from different countries (Algeria, Israel/Palestine, Pakistan) and different groups in society.
