Oranje Ambon plot
When the Dutch football team plays, the Moluccan island of Ambon turns orange. During the 2010 World Cup, the tropical orange madness rose to the boiling point, partly due to the then Orange player Gianni van Bronckhorst, whose roots lie in Ambon. Ten years ago, Ambon was ravaged by a civil war between Christians and Muslims. The population is divided and has since been separated by a chasm of fear and mistrust. The Dutch Moluccan Jim Pentury, son of a KNIL soldier, wants to reunite the warring parties on Ambon with football. For years he has been working on the establishment of a football school to allow the children of the two faith communities to play sports together. Is his dream possible? In November 2011, violent riots broke out in Ambon. A month and a half later, Jim tries to organize a competition between Christians and Muslims.
