Ongewisse Tijd plot

The documentary begins with a dramatized reconstruction of the sea voyage undertaken by Hartog Simon Pos and his brother Matthijs in the year 1774. They were en route to Suriname. Just two hundred years later, Diego Pos made a journey in the opposite direction: he was the last Pos to leave Suriname. In “Unknown Time” Pos returns to Suriname, in search of the history of his Jewish family and the Surinamese Jews in general. He encounters unexpected relatives, such as Simon Matthijs, who was born in the eighteenth century from a slave.
