Ode aan De Rotterdam plot
The steamship Rotterdam is a phenomenon. Built in the 1950s – and at the time ultramodern – the Holland-America Line ship transported passengers between the Netherlands and America for decades. A few years ago, the ship seemed to have been permanently shunted. But De Rotterdam was saved and is now going into a miraculous second life. The documentary paints a picture of De Rotterdam's rich past with the help of unique film footage and photos taken by photographer Harry Mosch. In addition, special attention is paid to the restoration of the art present on the ship. We also see the triumphant return to the port of Rotterdam where the Rotterdammers welcome the ship with open arms. In its home port, the ship will start a new life: as a hotel, cultural center, training place and as a museum.
