'Sometimes it is difficult for me to orientate myself, then I walk through the city all day long.' She used to be a medical doctor, but she lost her papers in a fire. She has now been living on the street for fifteen years. Not happy, but satisfied. She finds comfort in the group she lives with and in her knowledge of world literature. Two of her friends are the elderly alcoholic Herman and his wife Lucy. Three men and a shopping cart are needed to get his trembling body out of bed. But once he sits in the sun with a can of beer and his chain-smoking girlfriend, all is well. "Herman is very sweet," Lucy says solemnly. It's a love to be jealous of. Jan Dominique studied architecture, quantum physics and literature. He looks like a scarecrow with flair, made up and run away from his own fairytale world. For him, every day is a beautiful day, even if bulldozers chase him out of bed and the sun melts his body.
