Mijn Vader de Expat plot

Ali once came to the Netherlands as a guest worker, but in the eyes of his son he is a pioneer. His son Abdelkarim El-Fassi interviews his father about the present and the future. This interview is conducted during a drive along the coast of Morocco in an old orange Renault 4. Here Ali looks back on a successful life. Now that he is no longer a guest nor a worker, everyday life questions are reviewed. To emigrate or not? What does he expect from his children? How is his relationship with the Netherlands? What are the dreams and fears? While his father explains the art of serving tea again, Abdelkarim tries to persuade his diabetic father to cut back on sugar and sweets.
