Mei it Helmhout tusken Ús Yn plot
When the skûtsjes used to transport freight in the Northern Netherlands, the work on board was done by husband and wife together. Loading and unloading the ship, sailing along the way, she did everything as well as he did. And if it was not possible to sail, he or she pulled the ship. There was also the care for the children and the ins and outs in the deckhouse. However, there has never been a female skipper at the helm of a skûtsje. How is that possible? And how long will it take before a woman is allowed to hold the helmet wood there too?
