Lobotomiya plot
A personal indictment by filmmaker Yuri Khashchavatski against the brainwashing of the Russian people through the media. On the basis of the Russian-Georgian war, he shows how far apart the actual conflict and its coverage by Russian state television are. The director's voice-over directs the speech, but involved journalists, military experts and politicians also have their say. The interviews live or via Skype are interspersed with archive images, which in turn are compared with amateur films found on the internet. The director's personal account makes it plausible that the Russian state is not governed according to democratic principles, but as a mafia-like hierarchy.
