Laatste Woorden plot

“My Sister Joke” is a personal portrait of Johan van der Keuken's sister Joke who died of cancer on August 8, 1997. Eight days before her death, the filmmaker and his wife Noshka had a candid conversation with her and filmed this with a digital video camera. Two days before her death, a second shorter conversation followed. The film shows these philosophical conversations about the meaning of life, vitality and the passing on of experiences and insights, but also conversations about their mutual relationship in the past within the parental family and now. Van der Keuken filmed Joke's own environment around it; her house, garden, daughters and paintings.
