K2 and the Invisible Footmen plot

The K2 is more respected than Everest for many climbers, because there are fewer routes and the ascent is steeper. The summit of K2, on the Pakistan-China border, exposes climbers to life-threatening weather conditions. In 2008, K2 claimed eleven lives. Four of them were porters. Although they are paid much less than expedition leaders, porters have difficult and dangerous work. They provide the base camps with essential supplies and help climbers reach great heights. They deserve recognition as the true heroes of mountaineering.
