Jimmy in Saigon plot
When his brother Jimmy died mysteriously in Vietnam in 1972, gay filmmaker Peter McDowell was just a child. As an adult, armed with a video camera, Peter sets out to find the brother he never knew. The documentary that follows is set up like a detective story and follows Peter's search for the truth about the strikingly enigmatic brother that the family is silent about. Jimmy was a rebellious boy who was drafted to fight in Vietnam. He stunned his family by returning to Saigon after his military service to enjoy "hedonistic pleasures." Jimmy's letters home mentioned a Vietnamese girlfriend, but Peter suspects that Jimmy was enthralled by something or someone else.
