Is There a Pine on the Mountain plot

When filmmaker Chongyan Liu's mother-in-law comes to visit the small Parisian apartment she lives with her boyfriend from China, it slowly becomes clear where his violence comes from. Initially, Liu films the fights in the cramped kitchen with an apparently hidden camera, blurring their faces. Accusations about trivial annoyances fly back and forth, until really big words are spoken. Off screen, mother and son take turns talking about their difficult and toxic relationship, only to find that domestic violence is passed on every generation.
