In Satmar Custody plot
It is a closed and virtually unknown community. The ultra-Orthodox Jews living in America who call themselves 'Satmar' are hardly noticeable in their own country, but they form an active anti-Zionist movement outside of it. In Yemen, poor Jewish families are persuaded not to emigrate to Israel, but to America, where they are promised a warm welcome. In practice, things turn out differently, as is apparent from the poignant story of Yahia and Lauza Jaradi, Yemeni Jews who were lured to America with their children in 1994 by the Satmar community. A few years later, things go terribly wrong: their daughter Hadiyah falls into a coma and dies, after which Lauza is charged with murder. The reality is much murkier.
