Het Verdriet van Westfriesland plot

In recent years, the Netherlands was startled by a relatively high number of suicides among young people in the Westfriesland region of North Holland. 'The Sorrow of Westfriesland' reports on the closed community in the vast, barren and beautiful West Frisian landscape. The film is about everyday life, about the loneliness among the young, the national character, the silence, the alcohol use that often starts at a young age. And about the literally and figuratively 'drowning' of young people in large groups at school, fairs and frenzied beer parties.
