Het Land van Mijn Ouders plot
A woman born in the Netherlands but who grew up in two cultures searches for the past of her Indisch parents. An attempt to get in touch with the origin of her family, herself and her child through that past. In this documentary, director Marion Bloem tries to find out what makes her different from other Dutch people. She does this through conversations with family members about the colonial era, the Indonesian freedom struggle and the adjustment in the chilly Netherlands, by reading books and browsing archives, by attending Indonesian parties, reunions and by following a course.
