Hacker plot
"Portrait of a counterculture"
The 'Hacker, once the Robin Hood of data networks, is he now a lone nerd, criminal or perhaps a network criminal? Every year an incredible amount of new viruses and worms spread causing enormous damage. Hackers are often held responsible for this. But the 'Hacker' is an ambivalent character. He is feared and persecuted for his special knowledge and yet the IT security industry makes billions with hackers and yet they pose an internet threat because of their existence. At the same time, hackers can be hired by the industry to secure their software, write anti-virus programs and design firewalls. This is a paradoxical situation. What is the hacker today? A data terrorist or a Robin Hood? Or just an employee entitled to vacation days and pension?
