Grozny Blues plot
In the Chechen capital Grozny, the camera follows a group of female human rights activists, a group of musicians and the owner of a blues café. Portraits of dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, his father Achmat and Russian President Vladimir Putin hang prominently on the buildings along the gray-gray promenade in the center of the city. The three despots are wittily described by the women as the father, the son and the holy spirit. The decades-long struggle between Chechen independence fighters and the Russian army has resulted in countless casualties, but humor keeps the women going.
