Fall from Grace plot

Documentary about the hate-filled world of Fred Phelps Sr., pastor and founder of the highly controversial Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, USA. Phelps Sr. founded the Church in 1955 and it is almost predominately made up of members of his family and has about 75 members, but is very productive. For example, they have held about 22,000 fierce demonstrations in the past 15 years. Recently, they have become notorious for their demonstrations at funerals of fallen American servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan. The documentary features interviews with Fred Phelps Sr., other members of the Church, some church services and demonstrations, opponents, and two former members who left the Church and their families. Issues such as diversity, intolerance, freedom of expression, separation between church and state and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are also discussed.
