Donald Cammell: The Ultimate Performance plot
Cammell has always dreamed of making a movie about himself and he provided a shocking autobiography as the writer and co-director of Performance. He had led a turbulent and dramatic life - he was a precocious painter, a charismatic sexual adventurer and a member of the fashionable arts movement in Paris and London during the Swinging '60s. This was followed by a reclusive exile in LA during which he occasionally hung out with the likes of Kenneth Anger and (less fortunately) Brando. After Performance, his career was littered with uneven or unfinished films demonstrating his abiding interest in sexuality, violence and death, Crowley and Borges, and some of his rather mystical ideas.
