Did You Wonder Who Fired the Gun? plot
This film tells the story of Travis Wilkerson's white and racist great-grandfather SE Branch, who shot and killed black man Bill Spann. Wilkerson's great-grandfather was never charged with this crime, while his victim was almost forgotten. With southern Alabama as the backdrop, the filmmaker encounters one obstacle after another when he begins his investigative documentary-cum-murder mystery. They accuse him of dishonoring the family by bringing up old things that no one wants to talk about anymore. Ghosts really do exist in Alabama, and the film tells a story that parallels Robert Mulligan's 1962 classic "To Kill a Mockingbird."
