De Man met 100 Kinderen plot

Once upon a time, a flock of children numbering into the tens was reserved for kings and chieftains, as a sign of their prestige. Thanks to emancipation and the internet, a tourist guide from a neat suburb of Maastricht, such as Ed Houben, can now also father a hundred offspring. The world of this sperm donor sometimes seems artificial. A makeable reality in which there is clinically spoken about 'prospect parents', 'ovulation days', 'sperm test results', 'attempts', and 'successful pregnancies'. Yet from this abstract world a hundred real children were born. The portrait of this super sperm donor shows how social conventions put Ed and the intended mothers to the test every day. In the end, Ed's microcosm turns out to say a lot about our time, morality and society.
