De Hartslag van het Stedelijk plot

After a renovation that lasted more than eight years, the renewed Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam will open its doors on September 22, 2012. Six characteristic works from different periods, including 'De Appelbar' by Karel Appel, 'Ushering in Banality' by Jeff Koons and 'Drei Häuser mit Schlitzen' by Martin Kippenberger, form the basis for the documentary 'The heartbeat of the Stedelijk'. In it, Roel van Dalen and Gemma van Zeventer outline the development of the Stedelijk Museum after 1945, in conjunction with the six directors who were responsible for it. Personal taste and developments in both the arts and society proved to be leading in the formation of the collection.
