In this documentary, we learn about the remarkable life of the recording artist Don Bachardy, and his relationship with the writer Christopher Isherwood. We also see interviews with John Boorman and Liza Minnelli, among others. Isherwood and Bachardy were open about their relationship, but didn't realize it would cause a lot of criticism. Their relationship was in the time when gay relationships were not accepted. The age difference also brought with it several personality problems, which Don and Chris had to find an answer to together.
