Caricaturistes, Fantassins de la Démocratie plot

This documentary is a product of the 40-year friendship between the film director Radu Mihaileanu and Plantu, caricaturist at the newspaper Le Monde. The idea for the film arose from their mutual admiration and shared values. They talk to caricaturists about their struggle for democracy and the ongoing risk they face. They also talk about the reactions and debates they provoke with their often subtle expressions of free opinion. Drawings on loaded themes such as religion, economics, finance, politics or war allow them to measure the level of democracy in their country, although they are often victims of it. They are the foot soldiers of democracy.
