In 2010, producer Lauren Faust tried to revive the 1980s cartoon series My Little Pony. Having worked on cartoons like The Powerpuff Girls before, Faust had the experience to make it a successful franchise. The renewed cartoon series was released as My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (released in the Netherlands as My Little Pony: Vriendschap is Magie) and was indeed a success. But not only eight-year-old girls ran away with it, boys and grown guys turned out to be fans too... These Bronies, as they are called, are the focus of this documentary.
