The 97-year-old farmer Peer has been living alone in his Brabant farm for more than fifty years. Peer leads a life without any luxuries. With a bent back and only a few cows left in the stable, he burps on. He has no interest in the outside world. Filmmaker Daan Jongbloed follows Peer for eight years.

Farmer Peer is stuck in the early 1950s. Like the Dutch version of the Japanese soldiers in the wilderness of Asia, without understanding the world that has gone on without them.

As a documentary it is a bit one-sided and limited. Perhaps it is a good choice to let Peer speak for himself and not to want to give a rebuttal or explanation, but on the other hand the result remains a bit thin. If Jongbloed really worked on it for 8 years you would expect a bit more.
