Blackfish plot

"Never capture what you can't control."

All over the world, packed stands marvel at water shows featuring orcas: seemingly effortless, the attendants make the colossal black and white whales fly gracefully through the air. But the orca remains a dangerous predator: in Sea World, the orca Tilikum killed no fewer than three companions. In the wild, killer whales are neither aggressive nor dangerous to humans, so what possessed this 'domesticated' specimen?

My stance has been clear for years, but now it's back in the news due to the shows stopping in (unfortunately only in) San Diego. I hope that Florida and others will also (have to) stop.

what a beautiful animal these are.

Seen once when the dolphinarium Harderwijk also had an orca in the 80s, and have always admired them ever since, especially when I have also seen them in the wild.

Never been to a dolphinarium since then, and signed a number of petitions.

The documentary contains very pathetic images (how they were captured) and also the frustrations in the basin that these animals have that normally travel enormous distances per day.

Story has 2 sides, because you also want to see these animals.

But these beasts are not there at all for entertainment for humans.

Must see, think a lot of people don't know about the ups and downs all around it.

Anyone who has seen this will never visit a dolphinarium or the like again and will forget to swim with “trained” orcas. While the documentary ultimately focuses on SeaWorld's grave negligence that resulted in the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau, Cowperthwaite speaks with an impressive array of scientists and insiders who highlight the extremely questionable methods generally used to capture these intelligent animals. with only two goals: to entertain people and make money. Full of shocking authentic images that will take your breath away, but you have to see this, no matter how sensitive you are.
