Bijna Nooit plot
Poet Judith Herzberg keeps her work and private life strictly separate. But it is precisely the personal aspect of her work that appeals to people. She writes about seemingly small, everyday subjects and her observations make the reader want to know more about the writer. But Herzberg is wary of that: "It's about my work, not about me." Saskia van Schaik made a portrait with this contrast as an inset. The film shows the search for an approach that is acceptable to the maker and the subject. In that search, the writer's motivations become clear. The film examines the relationship between work and life and the emotions that exposing that relationship entails: how far do you want or can you go in showing yourself. An unfashionable question in this day and age when everyone seems to talk so openly about everything.
