Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg plot
One of the most interesting districts of the Berlin capital is Prenzlauer Berg, which lies east of the center and where the old Berlin meets the new. There, some old buildings gave shelter to the alternative scene. Soon people spoke of the 'Myth of Prenzlauer Berg'. Intellectuals, artists and students dominated the neighbourhood. There was even talk of the 'Montmartre of Berlin'. The fall of the Berlin Wall had a magnetic effect on newcomers, a wealthy and trendy audience. Everything changed quickly and hip bars popped up like mushrooms. The Prenzlauer Berg became the most popular residential and entertainment center of the capital. You can see the many changes here, but also the original charm of the district. Unknown and well-known inhabitants - such as Wolfgang Thierse - have their say.
